D&D 4E Poll

Post stuff that's not game-related here.

If D&D 4E sucks, what system would you use instead?

Poll ended at Wed Jan 30, 2008 5:57 pm

I'll stick to D&D 3/3.5E, thanks.

I'd rather go back to AD&D 1st or 2nd Edition

I'd build something myself on top of the d20 3E Core

Forget D&D, I'd try to get my friends to play (name a new system... Hero, GURPS, BESM, White Wolf, FUDGE, etc)

Well, given that the poll is "if 4E sucks... what will you do?" I didn't think it fit, but sure, I added one for ya.

Can I vote more than once?

If 4th ed sucks then I'll just stick to playing 3.5. I won't try to convert anyone to playing other games but I am always willing to try something else. If I still can't get anybody to do any face to face rpg's then I guess I'll stick with my MMO's where I will spend 98% of my time doing stuff solo.

If 4e sucks, I'll want to stick with 3.5, although that doesn't exclude tinkering with the rules and e.g. taking some of the good stuff out of 4e into a 3.5 game.

So how are we going to determine if 4th ed sucks? Is anyone planning on buying it when it first releases? Or are you going to wait and see what the buzz on it is before buying?

I'm debating about placing an order with Amazon. They have them for $23.07 ea. not sure if that includes the 5% pre-order discount though. Seems like their standard 34% discount, so knock another 5% off for pre-ordering. Anyone seen a better price anywhere?

I'll uh... add 4th ed to my 3.5 "collection", and check it out.

I just skimmed through a preview book for 4th edition called "Worlds & Monsters", and I think I'm actually pretty excited to try it out now. I think they've got the right approach and attitude regarding how things should work, so we'll see if they pull it off.

I skimmed through the Races & Classes preview book while in Borders once, and liked much of what I read, too. I'm not keen on much of the flavor changes though, such as making dwarves into a surface-dwelling race without darkvision, for example.
